Snackade lite med Josef på telefon. Han hade kollat upp lite mer om VOIP och det verkar som det börjar komma på riktigt intressanta prisnivåer. Tex WX3 Telecoms Resources AB kostar 300 kr per år plus 25 kr i månaden. Ett annat alternativ är DigiSIP. Enda problemet än så länge när man har ADSL är att man måste betala en massa sura avgifter för kopparen till Telia men det diskuteras att det skall bli ett slut på det med.
Bluetooth ersätter kabel beskriver på svenska hur blåtand fungerar. Kan vara bra om man vill hacka ihop något blåtandigt framöver.

Some time ago I installed James Seng’s Bayesian filter on this blog to give it a try. After approximately a months use I’m not very pleased. Maybe I have missunderstood how to use it but I have to login to the blog and check every SPAM comment and sometimes indicate one it hasn’t got and then delete them all. I don’t want to do that kind of stuff. I only get one SPAM comment per week or so which makes this as bothering as manually delete them. Therefore I installed James’ other solution that gives the user who writes the comment a very simple challange but one that a bot can not fullfill. I hope this will work much better.
I have started to get SPAM comments on this blog. I found it much irritating. When talking to Emmanuel about this today at work he recommended to upgrade moveable-type since the latest version has some built-in SPAM protection. He also showed me James Seng’s Bayesian Filter for MT.
I have now upgraded to MT 2.661 which was quite easy, just follow the instructions. And I have installed the Bayesian filter, the only tricky part was to to create the necessary tables in MySQL. I followed step 3. in the installtion but when I checked that bayesian-init-db.cgi was executable, I missed to check it was readable…. Once that was done it all wnet just fine. So now lets see how long it takes to learn to detect the SPAM-comments.
IIS.se, PTS och KO har släppt en ny intressant version av TPTEST – TPTEST Statistik. Detta program utför bandbreddstester på din förbindelse med jämna mellanrum och sedan laddar upp resultaten till www.tptest.se så man kan jämföra med andra kunder in samma nät. Jag fick bekräftat att det inte står så bra till med min Scream-förbindelse. Jag ligger lite över 2.5Mbit/s medans den med lägst prestande förrutom mig ligger på 4Mbit/s och då har jag sett till att verkligen inget annat ligger och tar bandbredd.
Dock stämmer detta inte helt med mina egna mätningar. T.ex. så får TPTEST statistik min upplänk till maximalt 0.63 Mbit/s medans jag själv kan mäta upp 0.83 Mbit/s som stämmer bra överens med den information jag kan hämta ut ur modemet just nu: Speed (Kbit/sec) 832 up / 6016 down
Telia har insett att de redan har avtal med alla som har telefon och kan därmed erbjuda folk att koppla upp med modem utan att det behövs ett abonnemang till. Med Telia Internet För Alla så räcker det att bara komma ihåg ett telefon-nummer 0780-101010. Det behövs inget inloggningsnamn eller password för att koppla upp sig, och sedan debiteras kostnaden direkt på den vanliga teleräkningen från Telia. Detta oavsett vem du har som förval.
Kan vara rätt bra nummer att komma ihåg den gång man har behov av internet men inte har tillgång till en fast lina.
Köpte mig en DVD-brännare i veckan som gick. Det blev en MSI DR4-A. Ville testa lite hur den fungerade så jag laddade ned en DVD-image från nätet. Dock lyckades Nero Burning Rom som jag fick med till brännaren inte läsa den .img-fil som det var. Efter lite undersökning hittade jag att följande två freewares klarar dock detta:
Ett annat freeware program som kan komma till nytta är DVDShrink som låter en krympa ihop en film DVD så den passar in på en DVD-R. Afonic DVD Rip Guides kan komma till nytta med.
So I have been fiddling around a bit more with my SpeedTouch 510 ADSL modem. I wanted to be able to access the internal webserver in it from my machines on the inside, i.e. those behind the firewall. The modem is on the outside. The IP of the modem is 10.0.0.138 which also makes it a bit problematic since it is not routed normally.
To start with I gave my outside network-card one more ip number, 10.0.0.1 so it would be on the same net as the modem:
ifconfig vr0 alias 10.0.0.1
vr0 is the name of my outside network interface.
Then I had to tell my firewall not to deny those packets since normally 10.0.0.0 and 192.168.0.0-nets are not routed:
add allow all from any to 10.0.0.138 via ${oif}<br />
add allow all from 10.0.0.138 to 192.168.0.0/16 via ${oif}<br />
add allow all from 10.0.0.138 to 10.0.0.0/8 via ${oif}
This allowed me to telnet into the modem as well as access the webpages from my firewall machine but I wanted to use the machines that had ip like 192.168.0.3 to access teh webserver as well. The problem is that the modem doesnt know where these machines are so I had to tell it where to route traffic for the 192.168.0.0 net.
ip rtadd dst=192.168.0.0/16 gateway=10.0.0.1
So now it works when the modem sends the traffic to my firwall that routes it correctly to my PC and such.
I have had the intention to learn Perl for several years but have never really had a good project or a good book to start with but now I seem to have both! I just found the Picking Up Perl online book and read the first chapters and it seems to very quickly introduce the basic concepts of Perl. So now its just to get started with the project, to extract some intersting data from my ADSL Modem and plot that using MRTG.
