Today I should print a number of photos for a friend. So I thought I should give Lightroom a try and I was close to give up when I finally solved it…
This great guide from Steves digicams solved it for me. Basically what I had missed earlier was when disabling the ICM I still had “Photo” chosen as type, it shall be “None”. I also had some effect settings as well but once everything was deselected it worked like a sharm!
In the Canon ICC Profile Guide you can find out what kind of papers the different profiles are for:
MP = Matte paper
PR = Photo Paper Pro
SP = Photo Paper Plus Glossy

Stativ
Var på Fotomässan idag och började klämma på lite olika stativ. Stativ är inget lätt val…
Dels har man dilemmat om man kommer använda det så att det känns värt pengarna man lägger på det. Och några saker jag vet jag kommer störa mig på är tex om det är svårt att sätta upp, om kameran inte sitter still eller vippar efter att låst den. Sedan är vikten av stor betydelse, speciellt om man skall fundera ta med det upp i fjällen, fast det tror jag redan jag har uteslutit. 2 kg extra bara för någon enstaka bild känns som väldigt mkt vikt! Fast samtidigt älskar jag att kunna ta riktigt långa exponeringar över ett mörknande landskap och visst GorillaPoden är bra men den är inte alls lika stabil som ett riktigt stativ, och dom är väldigt låga…
Så skall jag lägga pengar på ett stativ och huvud är det lika bra att det blir kvalite så jag kommer använda det. Så första frågan, hur låg vikt är smärtgränsen. Manfrottos 055XCPro3 var himla fint och verkade robust och hade mkt funktioner men verkade lätt använt, både att sätta upp och att ändra om. Gillade speciellt att det gick att vinkla toppdelen 90 grader.
Sedan vad gäller huvud kändes det instinktivt att jag vill ha ett med friktionslås om det skall vara en kulled. Provade Manfrottos 468MGRC2 men gillade inte deras låssystem. Kändes inte som man hade samma kontroll som med Gitzos GH2780QR system. Gitzo lösningen var mkt exakt och snabb alltså krävde inte mkt rörelse för att lösa och plus i kanten var alla vattenpassen. Men visst det kostar en del olika, Manfrotto går idag för 2288 kr på Cyberphoto medans Gitzon ligger på 3820 kr.
Men med dessa huvuden blir det mkt pengar för ett stativ så det blir till att både spara och fundera en hel del till.

Nya bilder från hela förra året
Äntligen fått tid att fixa till en massa gamla bilder som legat på datorn. Förrutom bilder från jul och nyår och hösten så har jag även lagt upp från seglatsen med Jonas båt i somras samt en massa mer bilder från sommaren. Men det fanns bilder även från våren och även förra vintern och till och med jul och nyår för ett år sedan! Men nu är det äntligen uppe och jag tror mig fått till en rätt bra process så nu skall det förhoppningsvis gå fortare.
Create HDR, Panoramas and add annotation texts in Lightroom
Heard Martin Bailey talk about LR2Mogrify today and downloaded it to try it out and at the same time discovered LR/Enfuse:
- LR2/Mogrify for adding borders and notations to your exported photos from LightRoom.
- LR/Enfuse with which one can make panoramas and HDR photos from within LightRoom.
I installed both and seems to work though need to test more. Nice that it existed a 64-bit version of ImageMagick that worked nicely with LR2/Mogrify and for LR/Enfuse I noticed Timothy Armes tip where to download Enfuse and align_image_stack was not correct. Though just go to the Hugin project website and download and install the latest release and it works!

I just bought components and built a new PC at home. And I decided to go for Vista because it felt a bit more future-safe… Anyway most worked without a problem but I got really frustrated when I realized I could not create a toolbar with My Computer and put it at the top of the screen. But just found out through some googling that its possible but some what not obvious…

Recover and rip a damaged dvd from a videocamera
In March when we went to Val Thorens with UCPA the guide filmed us a lot and then we got the DVD but it was damaged and it wasn’t finalized. So I did an attempt to save some parts of the video and here is what I did and used.
First it was not easy to get a good ISO or extract the vob-files from the disc. I tried several tools:
- dvdisaster could extract an iso from the dvd but I did not find a good tool to extract the vob-files since the iso was damaged it was not possible to open or mount as a normal ISO. Though it seems that if you have a registered version of ISOBuster it should be possible because I saw it could find the files from the damaged ISO.
- CDRoller manages both to read the disc and extract damaged vob-files though you need to register to actual be able to save the files.
But now I had either an ISO or a couple of damaged VOB files. I noticed VLC was the best player to use to play the damaged VOB file and it showed quickly that it was not so much damaged.
Another great tool to quickly check all that could be able to recover was to use VobEdit and the preview function in there, but I was not able to use VobEdit to extract any mpgs or so from the VOB file. It showed much more video than VLC and it was basically all that I could later extract.
DGIndex which is part of DGMPGDec generates both a d2v or m2v and ac3 file. So need to use ac3tool to make it into wav file and then TMPGEnc to make it into a mpg file.
Another tools that could extract a corrected VOB-file from the corrupted VOB-file was Vobrator.
Either if you go via an mpg file or a corrected VOB file you can then use Auto Gordian Knot to convert it into a DivX avi-file.
